Wow…it’s the 6th of September already. I mean, summer flew by faster than I thought it was. Sure, this summer was chaotic, but I kinda still wish I had at least one more week before school.
There are A LOT of things I’ve learned from this summer… 1) When you’re alone…you think a lot…and because you’re alone you usually tend to think about depressing things. 2) If you love two or three things, but you can’t love them all as much as you want without hurting someone (or yourself), choose your best option, and if it turns out that your best option wasn’t your best option, then try and go back to how things used to be. Keep your heart in check and don’t stray from what you believe and love in. 3) Keep your friends close to you. Find out who you can trust, and who you can’t. But don’t shun people. You don’t want to be left alone. And 4) Take on all of your challenges in life knowing that you will be able to get through all of them, whether independently or by yourself.
I already know that this year will be extremely challenging for me, but I’m going into it knowing that there are more good things that I can expect to come out of it than bad.
I just want to ask all of you a question…what would you do if today was your last day that you were alive? I went to see the concert with Saving Abel, Papa Roach, Hinder and Nickleback and not only was it an amazing concert, but one of Nickleback’s songs “If Today Was Your Last Day” really stuck out to me and hit my heart hard. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, from this very moment, what would you do? I thought about it a lot last night…and I know exactly what I would do. I would gather all of my family and friends and I would apologize to all of them, I would thank them for everything they’ve ever done for me, I would tell them secrets and I would make a video with all of them with me. We would have the best night of my entire life together, as the last night of my life. And I would die without guilt, without shame, without regret, without sadness and without feeling complete. I would die happily.
Have a good year everyone. Hopefully this’ll be one of the best years of our young lives.
